Project 7: Project Bamboo Break

Bamboo Break is about quickly preparing ourselves (during this Eid break) so that we will be ready to be on site with the communities that we plan to service. There are physical and creative skills we need to develop fast. To do this, each student must own a parang/ golok (machete) which they must immediately use to cut and shape bamboo pieces for construction.

Foreign students are encouraged to visit their Muslim friends who balik kampung to see where bamboo is traditionally used during this festive period, especially in lemang making, as lights and also the infamous and loud meriam buluh.

Each student is to produce two constructions for  Monday 28th September,

 

1. Bamboo Box	2. Bamboo Gift
One cube 1m X 1m X 1m.	One small object made of bamboo as a gift item, creatively wrapped.

at the event called the 101Potluck Bamboo Do.

Staff and students are to bring their Raya Cookies, coffee & tea + meehoon served.

Before we makan, we hope to conduct an impromptu: "From lego piece to legoland".
