ConDome's Condition

This is what ConDome looks like on 12 March 2008. There's a little dent in the lower part, but it doesn't look like the dome is going to crash on HBP students does it?

Here's a couple of damaged struts - blue one, from LICT(?) the ferric oxide coated one from UiTM Manjong (UiTM students used HBP metalshop to fabricate their components, no time to prime).

Another two damaged struts. Surely these are too low to crash on HBP students' heads, or perhaps when these struts break, the whole dome would come crashing down?

What about the struts above the head then? Do they look like they are falling down?

We need the detail. The connectors are ok on the outside and inside. They don't seem to threaten the structural integrity of the dome, do they?

Anyway, what has to go has to go; for whatever reason it is, we really don't need to know.

We thank all architecture students who have participated in turning their 2002 CONVERGENCE in Penang into something which has lasted through six years of Penang rain and shine, and of course the creative use under and surrounding it.

May your blood, sweat and tears be preserved on a site more conducive to design exploration. See ConDome New Home.
