A NOTE ON FRIENDS
After having served the
university for about 30 years, I realized something quite interesting
a few years ago, during the time I was
really (really) ill. During that 3-month bedridden period,
only ONE person from the university came to visit me. He even brought me examination scripts
to mark... haha, c'est la vie.
I have still not given up
on USM. more importantly on making
friends. |

"Surprised my name isn't on the (this) list :-)"
wrote Zurina Criswell on 5 Feb 2008. That line should define
what friend is...
And to help define
Long-Lost, Zurina continued, "I have been
back to Penang twice since the first email I sent you in
2003. Went back the first time in February 2004, and then
March 2007."
I guess my friends are a
strange lot. Said Zurina further,
"Penang has definitely changed - its too
congested, and crowded. I definitely feel myself a stranger
there..."
as she links up with more strange friends.
"...regards to Haidar".
Evoking more images- Haidar, Zaidee, Brenda, Maryam,
DD, Mr Foo Kok Toon... those who slogged together for
Arkitek Mutiara in 1980's.
