HBP Gazebo, Nodes & Paths

(Recycling Monerasinghe's Roundabout Roof Piece)


Once HBP constructed a prize-winning single-column roof piece for one of the roundabouts in Penang. After its expiry date it was returned to HBP. The steel roof was placed under the tree and the column was laid down by its side. And there they remained for a good many years, at one time even suggesting as though there was the Minagkabau civilization buried below, haha.

Studio 200 agreed that we could do something to this white kerbau by purposefully recycling it as a gazebo, and in doing so, bring about an architectural order to the HBP environment so fragmented as a result of the incomplete metamorphosis from camp to campus. The product of nodes & links, and the gazebo in the center, would simply be a garden (cf University in a Garden, 2000). Here's what was documented in part...
