Since June 1998, HBP has embarked on an aggressive program to incorporate IT into teaching and learning.  In particular, web-based technology is extensively used.

Here are some highlights:

Two-way communication

Feedback Site    -     Students have a chance to express their views about teaching methods and content.  Lecturers in turn have the opportunity to defend or elaborate on their methods and respond to the views in a positive manner.
HBP Forum    -    Students take part in an discussion in an electronic forum after having carried out their researchResearch have shown that students who are non-responsive in class discussion are willing to express themselves when on-lineThe discussion culminates in a written submission in web-format.

Showcasing Student Projects

HBP Review   or ArchiClub   -    Students' projects have been compiled into both multimedia and hardcopy.  A web-version is also available.  The project extends students' creativity "beyond the classroom".
IT Support    -   Students, through their coursework, have produced numerous homepage and even databases which are made available for download.  Students in future can further develop and enhance the products.
Land Administration    -   Students research their assignments on land-related court cases and submitted their assignments by FTP.  These write-ups have in turn become a resource for the entire web community.

Lecture Notes with a Difference

CAD    -    Learn AutoCad on the Web.
Naser's Lectures    -    Lecture notes previously prepared with PowerPoint have been converted into web-based lecture notes. Includes revision notes.
Light Weight Concrete    -    Based on original research, the site provides up-to-date teaching materials on the subject.
Methods    -    Apart from lecture notes, you can access past exam questions as well as notes and abstracts on research and quantitative methods.
Database-driven Web    -    Learn how to create a database-driven web site ... on the web of course!
Convert PowerPoint to Web-based Presentation    -     Professor Ghani's Public Lecture using PowerPoint was converted to a web-based presentation.  The site teaches you how to re-create such a website.
Measured Drawings    -    Measured drawing concerns meticulous recording of the architectural details of buildings of historic or architectural interest.  See conservation at work here.

These are only some of the highlights.  An up-to-date list can be obtained in the Virtual Learning @ HBP section.
