BACKGROUND

With a booming economy comes increased car ownership and traffic congestion. The Goverment has taken steps to alleviate this escalating problem with the implementation of the Light Rail Transit System ot LRT. The LRT system will form the central feature of an integrated transportation network, combining with feeder buses and commuter rail services to offer an efficient alternative to the current limitations of road travel. When Phase 1 and Phase 2 is completed in mid-1996, this modern and reliable transportation mode will stand Kuala Lumpur and its commutes in good stead to welcome the 21st century.
